How great is the Sydney weather today?! However, instead of going outside to properly enjoy the confusingly great Sydney weather, I decided to stay home to finish my 1000 word essay on Persian sculptures aka procrastinate till the late afternoon cleaning my room and blasting my "ye girl" playlist (yes, that's literally what I named it)

Not much has changed...Things have gotten tidier. The heater has gone back down under the staircase and I've gotten rid of my hideous lace curtains.

Hello, spring! I'm is ready for you!

Monday 16 September 2013

I'm not even going to try and calculate when my last blogpost was (1 month and 4 days...) but I have been genuinely busy with uni, work and just being an 18 year old girl that I couldn't find the time to write a decent blogpost.

But here's some good news! I have up levelled myself to a whole new "intern" - the one with an impressive dslr camera. A few weeks ago, I purchased a Fujifilm X100 off a v nice gentleman off gumtree and we (as in the camera and I) have been inseparable since. I'm thinking of incorporating some photography into my artworks so stay tuned for some experimental shots.

And now on a serious note....where can a girl score some cute denim shorts from? But not just your typical, high rise, "cheeky" lee/one teaspoon/wrangler shorts. I mean the ones that a kinda distressed but aren't really like denim underwear? I don't know - I saw a model on an online shopping site wear one but it wasn't even up for purchase, nor could i find a similar pair on that site! what's up with that? However, if there is a beautiful soul out there who is willing to help this hopeless soul please holla at me. This is the kind of length/style im looking for - but in black.

* By the way, if anyone was interested in those shorts and more adorable clothing head to elletassy. My friend Lucia Pang (who is also a great photographer) is the co-owner of this cute online store and seriously, this niche store will cater everyone's vast styles.

Anyways, keep cool. Do what your do best. Love one another, stay in school and don't do drugs. ¡ Laters s8rs!

Monday 5 August 2013

Lately, I've been slightly obsessed with the new Netflix show 'Orange is the New Black' and by obsessed I mean, I finished watching all 13, 51 minute episodes in the span of 3 days - it's ridiculous, if anything.

But no, seriously, It is so clever and funny. The plot is based on a true story and is about the main protagonist - Piper Chapman -'s journey as she's sentenced to jail, years after her involvement in the drug industry, because someone snitched her in. She is engaged to Larry and so her time in jail doesn't only challenge her physically but emotionally as well seeing as her ex-girlfriend aka the pimp of the drug ring aka 60% of the reason why she's in jail is in the same jail as her.

In a way it seems like a wack version of mean girls but mainly because there are different social cliques (or ethnic cliques).

Also, can I just point out that I ordered an iPad mini case last night off ebay and unintentionally ordered an orange case for my black iPad mini not realising the subtle reference to the show. My mind has clearly been brainwashed with 'Orange is the New Black' thoughts.

Chocolate and vanilla. Swirrrl, swirrl.

Sunday 28 July 2013

Last night was the Raw Artist event at The Roxy. It was an incredible night with the most inspiring energy mingling in the air. The venue was packed with quirky stands with handmade treasure, artworks, photographs, accessories, shoes and of course apparel.

Sandra's collection looked great (as per usual) and all the models were so lovely (as usual, again). We had  cute stall at the front with her true beauty collection and locksmith collection with clipboard ready to tack orders and then a nice table full of her original accessory pieces (Credit goes to the hopeless intern for making everything look aesthetically pleasing!)

The Sandra Motallebi Designs Team.

Half way through the night, the two interns, the photographer and a handful of models snuck into the theatre to take some "high fashion" photos and surprisingly became a lot of help there as I directed quite a few of the photos.

Overall it was a great night, and just being in an environment where there are so many creative works in so many fields was incredible. Hopefully.....maybe...... in the near future, I'll be featured at the Raw Artist festival too.

dream big, sista!

Thursday 25 July 2013

Two posts in one day - am i insane in the membrane? (insane in the brain)
Well, listening to Tegan and Sara before made me feel nostalgic and remember that time i won free tickets to their sydney side show at the opera house. I was driving up to Maitlands the following day to see them at Groovin' the Moo but when I got a Direct Message saying I've won free tickets to their show, I couldn't turn it down (like, every normal person.)

(this image wasn't even zoomed!)

It was great. Surprisingly, I got great seats. None of the nosebleed section seats. T+S were so adorably awkward and quirky. It was actually a great night, and their performance did not disappoint.

Anyways, on the topic of T+S here are my three favourite albums by them - in order. Under Feet Like Ours; If It Was You and So Jealous. (surprised that The Con is not in my top 3?)
5 Favourite Tracks:
- More for me
- Divided
- Clever Meals
Come on
Proud
5 Favourite Tracks:
- Don't Confess
- City Girl
- Living Room
- Monday Monday Monday

5 Favourite Tracks:

- call it off? Ange.

Greetings!

This weekend is the RAW: natural born artists ELEVATION  event at Roxy Hotel which will be showcasing Sandra Motallebi's Locksmith collection  and I will be there, being the intern at work - so purchase tickets and come say hi! It is not only a night of fashion but a night of talented artists in different fields such as photography, painting, make up and music showcasing their talent.

p.s. I am currently typing up this blogpost listening to Tegan and Sara's The Con album on repeat (#nowplaying call it off) and anticipating a reply from the dude selling his fujifilm camera on gum tree. This is seriously what I do after work when I'm too tired to do anything productive, but not tired enough to slumber.

Wednesday 24 July 2013

so apparently, the cafe I work at (if you already don't know, it's Reuben Hills) is a celebrity hot spot? Ok. Maybe "celebrity" is an overstatement, but a few people in the public eye seem to stop by quite often to enjoy our coffee.

I mean, today I served Laura Marling (she ordered an espresso for anyone interested) and 'Community Channel' Natalie Tran. I'm not the hugest fan of them so gladly, I didn't embarrass myself asking for a photo or an autograph or anything.

Apart from that, The Naked and Famous' new single (finally!) was released so that was a great start to this morning and after work, I went to a "pre-album release, listening party" at The Cricketers Arms for an australian band called Pond - that was fun.

Anyways, that's my not so interesting 24/July.
